an awfully rainy Sunday

This has been a really awesome Thanksgiving break. There was alotta chillaxin' at Adam's Grandma's house. We were there for 2 days along with the rest of Adam's family. Everyone just kept moving back and forth between times of sleeping, times of eating, and walks outside.

The table after the feast. Destruction.

Friday when we got back home, I met my mom for dinner and we went to go see my sister, Kristen, at work. She's got a job at Hobby Lobby :) I bought a small Christmas tree for this year. Mom and Kristen came over and helped me decorate it. It's making my house smell really nice.

Yesterday was a cozy, full day at home. I finished decorating for Christmas, did all the laundry, started a drawing, made quesidillas, Chris came over, and a youth groupie crashed here.

This is a pretty blurry picture but this is my favorite ornament. It's the kind that has a string that you pull and the soldier's arms and legs go up and down, jumping jack style.

The most perfect nativity.
Other than the real life......of course.

Dinner. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

But, today is such an a cold rainy day.

I have homework hanging over my head and I have no desire whatsoever to do it. gah. A cozy home, an awful weather day, a slight headache, and the desire to shut my eyes does not bode well for my homework load. Boooo.

I needed these last few days though to get through these next 3 weeks. Almost done for the semester! Yay!

  1. lol... I love the destruction photos! :) All of the photos were fun to go through, looks like you all had a wonderful and blessed time this weekend! You and Adam are so very blessed to have family live near enough that you can visit everyone. I love my family (and so does Daniel!) but since we live so very far away from his family we don't get to see them over Thanksgiving/Christmas. It's a really tough time to go through, he loves his family so much that it's really hard for him to not be around them during the holidays. It's almost just as hard seeing him go through missing them. But your right, this whole time of the year is about Thankfulness and perspectives! We sure have learned about that a lot the past year or two :)

Also, I see you ended up with a tree. Daniel and I went back and forth about that this year too. Diana has seen them and associates them with Christmas. We were telling her the reason why we celebrate Christmas is because Jesus was born. We told her everyone celebrates Jesus's birthday because He was a gift to the whole world and the whole world celebrates His birthday and that's why there are so many lights and happiness!

Daniel and I talked about what to say about the whole tree thing and decided it was maybe a bit beyond her to go into the explanation of pagan rituals of bowing down to them. So, we have decided that we will have a small tree after all, and as we decorate it with symbols of the nativity and Jesus it will be a good way to tell her (and Ellie!) the nativity story enough times where she will remember it and it become a part of an automatic correlation whenever anyone mentions Christmas. Right now, our Christmas tree is a constant reminder of why we celebrate Christmas in the first place!

Wow... longest comment EVER! I do tend to ramble... can't wait to read more Kensie :)
