French hens were not on my shopping list

On the third day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree.

Today was a new day.

I only had to work for a few hours then went to the store to stock up on groceries. Tomorrow we're having some friends over for a poker christmas party.

I love having people over and we really don't seem to get to very often. Our house really isn't very big.

I'm doing a taco bar for food and serving wassail too. Here's the recipe for wassail:

Ingredients

• 2 quarts apple cider
• 1 1/2 cups orange juice
• 3/4 cup pineapple juice
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
• 2 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
• 1 dash ground cinnamon
• 1 dash ground cloves

Directions

1. In a large saucepan, combine all of the ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Discard cinnamon sticks. Serve hot in mugs.               

I like to put orange peels and cinnamon sticks in the drinks to give a kind of a rustic feel.

Tomorrow I have no work so I'm just looking forward to homemaking all day and getting ready for the party.

Also today I heard some awesome news for the family of one of my friends. Her family has been fostering and trying to adopt this little girl for the past 5 years.

Yesterday she was officially adopted! Such wonderful news after so much time and pain.
