Chairs for our butts

Remember those chairs?
Well I painted them today.
White of course.

In between the paint layers I worked on recovering the seat of our desk chair.
It's really not that difficult.

  1. For a simple recovering project, pick a chair with parts that are attached only by screws.
  2. Take out all the screws. Place them in a safe place where you WON"T loose them. (Note: This is important ;)
  3. Pick what fabric you're going to recover with. I just used a cardigan I didn't really like to wear but I really like the pattern and feel. Make sure it covers whatever it needs to cover plus about 3 inches all the way around for overhang.
  4. Smooth the fabric over the cushion. Make sure the pattern is straight and even.
  5. Staple using a staple gun. A regular office stapler will not work. I've tried it.
  6. Cut off the excess.
  7. Screw everything back in and ta-da!
  8. You've got a newly recovered chair! Easy peasy.
