An important life lesson: Sometimes not every craft turns out how you hope it will. And you waste a perfectly good pillow case. Craft fails happen, kids. My most recent one (occurring just last night actually) was a craft to do a dip dye effect on a pillow case. You can color with permanent markers then add rubbing alcohol to make the color bleed and spread. I tried to do this technique on a large scale for a whole pillow case.
So I gathered all 9 of my old, black,
drying-out permanent markers and scribbled like mad.
Then switched.
(oh don't you love my classy, chipped nails? Lovely, I know.)
Half way there
Ok, I got tired of scribbling.
I think this is where the craft ran off the tracks.
I should have scribbled more and made the color more saturated
I moved on to the next step
I filled that cup about half full with alcohol and proceeded to
smoosh the fabric in and soak it up.
Can you see the failure?
Needs more ink and I think I also need
something bigger to dunk the fabric in.
I might even let it soak longer next time.
Also (side note) we have a peach tree in our yard that is ready to be picked.
The problem is that all the fruit that hasn't been gobbled up by squirrels is too high to reach.
Anybody have a ladder?
