In my space-rethinking, I've relied very heavily on the use of color to get the look I want. To introduce more masculinity into our living room, I've added heavier, dark colors in art to the mostly beige and white space.
Our living room is a long space divided in half. One half is for sitting, watching television, and conversation. The other half is our office space and a reading chair. This is where most of the art was installed.
I took down everything that was on this wall.
I had been hating it for awhile so that felt good.
In place of everything I removed, I hung up a couple paintings I've done and
angled a couple of mirrors. The mirrors keep the space from becoming too dark and heavy.
I re-matted my favorite picture of us from when we were on our honeymoon.
An oil painting I did in the fall.
It's actually sideways but it's abstract so it just gives it new life.
Yuck, blurry picture. But this is that water color painting I did a few days ago.
I might add some more contrast to it. We'll see.
