Well, I love! that juice. But did you know it's $4 a bottle? a single serving-sized bottle?
It is. Boooooooo.
So I decided I wanted to try and make my own.
I didn't follow much of a recipe. I had one in mind but I didn't stick right to it. Here's a guess-timation of what I put in my green machine juice:
- A large handful of fresh spinach
- 3/4 c of plain yogurt
- 1/2 carton of strawberries
- 1/4 c of blueberries
- 2 kiwis
- 1/2 can of peaches
- a big squirt of grade A honey
- 1 banana
- a bit of apple juice and orange juice for liquid-y-ness
A bought some other canned fruit but didn't end up using them.
It all turned out really well. I made an extra batch to freeze while I had stuff out (like a good home-maker, right?). This will be perfect for a quick breakfast or to take along in a drink bottle to sip on throughout the day.
By the way, no it did not taste exactly like the "real" Green Machine, but it's about a dollar a serving. And it's good for you. And it still tastes real good. I think that's a score for me.
