#2: Ministry Work

Our church is working to decrease the number of missionaries we support so we can support the ones we keep more. We'll be able to support our missionaries more not only financially but also by periodically sending teams to help them.

The team I just went with had the intention of helping missionaries, Fritz and Lynette Good, kick off their new ministry year. We assisted them in putting on a huge youth outreach night, gave their entire Sunday morning service and kicked off their Awana program. In addition to working with the church we also worked with several surrounding ministries including: Turkish Muslim evangelism, prostitute outreach, and a gypsy children outreach.

As you can see, it was a full week.

Teen Outreach night

The main even for the night was a huge game they call a flour bomb war. About a million little "bomb's" are made by filling a tissue with flour and then closing it with tape to make these little tissue/flour balls. The kids divide into two teams and have a huge game of capture the flag. They throw these flour bombs at one another to get opponents out.

Our team got the task of creating about 1000 flour bombs. Fun.

Then the teens started showing about.

By the time everything start there were about 109 teens.
That was awesome!

We would all rather be sleeping at this point in time

Gypsy Children Outreach

On this day our team split up. Most went to speak with Turkish Muslims (it just happened to be 9/11 that day) and then I and 2 of the guys went to help with a program that reaches out to the children of gypsies.

I didn't get any pictures of working with the prostitutes of course. While that was a highlight in my week, it was also a very scary and uncomfortable task God gave me and the girls who went. But He was our protection and hearts were touched, especially mine.
