Camp Cravings

Growing up, my parents brought me and my younger sister camping a lot.
We had an old camper with bunk beds.
Mom kept it stocked with the essentials so when my dad said the word, we could pack up the food and clothes we needed and be off when he get home from work.

I remember getting to camp sites and mom would spot dad while he was backed the camper in.
It didn't seem to take much time to have camp set up and all of us set on taking a walk, bike ride, or the s'more stuff set up.

Sometimes we would go with family friends.
I loved that.
The kids would gang up and figure out the land while the adults figured out dinner or planned the day.

Since we've been married, Adam and I have made it out to camp (in a tent) at least once a year.

The first time we went was for my first married birthday.
We camped and kayaked at a park nearby called Turkey Run.

A couple of years ago we tried to go camping and actually made it one night.
To be honest though, it was a total wash out.
It poured while we set up, while we made dinner, while we slept, and while we threw everything in the Blazer and hightailed it home soaking wet.
But it is still a really good memory because it was just novel!
Sure we were stuck in a tent while it poured outside but we were together.
We talked about school, the youth group, each other, how we were going to pursue having a family.....
It was good.

So with all of these awesome memories of camping I'm really starting to hanker to get out there again.
Now that we have a little one, though there's a little bit of skepticism, I still want to try it.
Even if all we have is a tent, when we eventually have our forever kids, I really want them to have those simple camping memories.

I may have to do some sweet talking to the man (he's only a camper because he loves me:) but who knows.
Until then I'll do some day dreaming though pinterest finds.....

The Go-bug

I've developed the go-bug.

Both on a small scale (like wanting to go on vacation) and a large scale (like let's pick up and move and start over somewhere...... asap).

I'm going to ignore the big bug right now as best I can but let me talk about my small bug.

I think it's pretty common that around this time of year when winter break is over and spring break isn't for another month or two it just sounds good to GO!

Since I am stuck for now fantasizing will have to suffice.

If I could go anywhere and do anything right this moment, I would rent an RV and take a 2 month trip circling around the west.

Some of my stops would include Aspen, CO, the mesas in Colorado, Yellowstone National Park, the Oregon Coast, the rock formations in Utah, and of course the Grand Canyon.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut..................................... that's probably not going to happen ANYtime soon.

Oh well I can dream.... and scheme :)

Somewhere warm sounds perfect

Spring break is a little over a month away (Of COURSE I'm already counting down the days to then!) and Adam & I are talking about what we want to do.

minus the stereotypical college craziness

We usually just work through it : /

Soooooooo, we were thinking about taking a mini road trip to a beach somewhere. Then his family threw out an idea to go to Texas for the week. Monique's dad had cancer a while back and it has returned. So she wants us all to travel down to see him before he gets much worse. We would actually stay on the beach down there in a beach house if we went, so.....

But we don't know

How about.........! A Pro's and cons list! yea! what better way to decide what the best possible choice is than through a nice, clean, organized list!!

Ok, let the fun begin

Texas

Pros:

  • See where Adam grew up
  • See Monique's dad
  • spend time with Conner's
  • Cheaper
  • still on a beach
Cons:

  • not so laid back
  • ppl all the time
  • space may be tight at w/e we rent
  • beach may not be great

Beach somewhere alone

Pros
  • alone
  • do what we want
  • pick the beach we stay on
  • quiet
  • alone
  • do what we want
Cons

  • more expensive

Hmmmm, well only time will tell where Spring Break 2012 is spent. Just any where but Terre Haute, ok?

ok Adam?

:)

Until then, I'll be in my make-believe-beach-land where I'm soaking up a skin-healthy tan, reading a million books, rolling over, and repeating. Here's what I wear while lounging at my fantasy beach

I actually made this set on polyvore.
Have you been there?
It's like playing Barbies, but better!
And for adults.
Like me!
(I'm a child)
Go to polyvore!
I'm going to my beach.
