Late nights, bon fires, frosty mornings, and covered bridges

Had quite a time at the Miller's

Getting warmed up in the warming hut.

A very bon bon fire. It was probably 10 ft in diameter.
My only issue with bon fires is that my face and eyes get all hot while the rest
of my body is still pretty chilly.

Weird camera. Actually, cheap camera. this is the night setting too.
You can see their faces were left behind if you look close. Ghost faces.

Good times

Ok these are the high school girls at 2 in the morning.
We are sleeping on the cement floor of the warming hut because it is 30 stinkin' degrees outside.
There is frost. The first frost I might add.

The guys (including my husband) are sleeping on a tarp around the bon fire.
Like men. (Or so I'm told)
Adam had to brush the frost off his back when he got up.

Though slightly, but reasonably, miserable, we had fun. We always have fun.
The next morning we all ate donuts and coffee and headed home.

Covered Bridge Festival

After I climbed into my comfy, clean, warm bed at approximitly 9:30 am, my mother calls letting me know that she and my sister will be leaving for the festival in about a half hour. Oh shoot. That's right.

Got my butt out of bed and got redressed.

It was worth it.

A beautiful, rain free day with my mom and sister. I warned them to ignore my yawning, bloodshot eyes, and the lingering aroma of a good bon fire hanging around me.

An old covered bridge, I think it's actually still in use.
It's located in Bridgeton. Ironic, no?

The old mill

The best and worst of it. Carni food and China junk vendors.

I had one of these. A grilled pork kabob with "special sauce".
I love kabobs. Give it to me on a stick.

Kristen really wanted a hand dipped corn dog.
She finally found some and yea, they were pretty good.

Guy making lemon shakeups.
I don't know why but lemon shakeups are just so good.
I mean, really it's just lemonaid but so much better.
Oh, and these are also always way over priced. For basically lemonaid.
Anyhoo...

Cinnamon Pecans. Really yummy in oatmeal or cereal. Or just on their own.
My mom always makes some for Christmas.

Pie in a jar. Enough said.

Funnel cake. Fried dough with powdered sugar. Again, enough. Said.

Good times. I also bought two egyptain cotten sheet sets for cheap. Too cheap to really make me think that they're high quality. Doubt it. And also I bought some colorful costume jewelry for me and some for Hannah's dress up box. Ummm, I bought an old sewing caddy. Its clear. And multi-leveled. And cute. I really love the antiquing aspect of covered bridge. But, as my sister says, just because it's got dirt on it doesn't make an antique.

Also all the camping gear from Friday night (tent, blankets, pillows, lanterns, chairs, tarp, etc.) is still in my car. probably will be for another day or two. Who cares. I'm exhausted. ;)
