New Baby on the Block

So guess who's house has been a crazy house all weekend?
Ours, that's who.

On Thursday after picking up Sweetums from a visit with her Mom, I was called back to take in Sweetums' little 3 month old sister.
For this space she will be known as Peanut.
:)

Of course I can't relate all the how's and why's of Peanut being with us now.
That will remain private.

But we've had her all of 4 nights now.
Just like when we first got Sweetums, I know we're in a time of adjustment.
That said, I think it's gone as well as we could ask for.
Sweetums knows her sister and is really happy to have her around.
Peanut sleeps and eats well and seems like a well adjusted baby.
She smiles easily and though loves to be held, really likes hanging out in a swing or bouncing in her bouncy chair.

It is just all crazy though.
I woke up that Thursday morning expecting it to be a regular old day.
Next thing we know, our family expands to include four.

It's a crazy awesome thing.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.

Psalm 36: 7-8

Also, kind of a PS, but I want to remember this and also thank them: our family and friends have been so helpful and supportive through all of this.
They are all so on board with helping us help these little ones.
It has made all the difference.
They've watched Sweetums so I can get to know Peanut, they've brought dinners, they've "padded" our pantry, my mom-in-law even bought me vitamins!
Ha!
So awesome.
So much love.
I hope it all just flows straight into the very veins of these girls.

  1. My heart feels just overfilled with joy for you and those precious children! I know that the underlying cause is a call for prayer that God would heal and restore the birth family... but sibbling love runs deep and the fact that those two little sisters are together is more than joyful, it's... just wonderful. I'm so excited for you guys, what love must be abounding in your hearts and home right now! And you know, when God want to reach someone, He does. If these little girls are His (which they are, of course) and He wants them to experience His love first hand, He's going to make sure that happens, and here He puts them with you and Adam. With you and Adam, they can feel Christ. Love you both and know Daniel and I continue to think about/pray for you and your entire household!
